Myrtha Pools backs competition and new world records at 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore

With the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore coming to a close on Sunday night after 24 days of high-level competition, Myrtha Pools has highlighted its role in delivering historic moments across the 77 medal events across six aquatic sports.

The first edition of the World Aquatics Championships to be held in Southeast Asia, the event welcomed more than 2,400 athletes from 203 countries and the Refugee Team.

At the heart of the global showcase stood the World Aquatics Championships Arena, equipped with two Myrtha pools, competition and warm up, designed and installed in record time to host both swimming and artistic swimming events at the highest standards of performance and versatility.

Myrtha Pools’ solutions also significantly reduced carbon emissions at the World Aquatics Championships, supporting green building certifications and optimise water circulation to deliver world-class performance, as witnessed in Singapore.

Myrtha Pools Chief Executive, Roberto Colletto stated "at Myrtha Pools, we don’t just build pools, we build platforms for sporting excellence, community engagement, and environmental responsibility.

“We are honoured to support the success of the World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 and to contribute to the future of aquatics in Singapore and globally.”

Utilising Myrtha’s exclusive modular stainless-steel technology, the same system used for permanent installations, the Singapore pools combined the benefits of flexibility, precision and sustainability. This technology is also well-suited for temporary facilities, which major sports organisations increasingly favour for their adaptability, reduced environmental footprint and capacity.

The event delivered exceptional performances, with three new World Records set in the Myrtha pools. France’s Léon Marchand broke Ryan Lochte’s 2011 benchmark in the men’s 200m individual medley, touching the wall at 1:52.69. Team USA added two more records to the list: 3:18.48 in the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay and 3:49.34 in the women’s 4x100m medley relay.

These achievements bring the number of World Records set in Myrtha Pools to an outstanding 181.

The Championships also marked the renewal of the partnership between Myrtha Pools and World Aquatics, extended through until 2029. This collaboration supports a shared mission of promoting elite performance, sustainability and innovation across the aquatic world.

Myrtha Pools in 2025
Utilising Myrtha’s exclusive modular stainless-steel technology, the same system used for permanent installations, the Singapore pools combined the benefits of flexibility, precision and sustainability. This technology is also well-suited for temporary facilities, which major sports organisations increasingly favour for their adaptability, reduced environmental footprint and capacity.

What sets these temporary pools apart is their post-event potential: designed for reinstallation, they will be relocated to local aquatic centres following the Championships, forming a lasting legacy for community sport and aquatics development in the region.

In line with innovations presented at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Singapore pools are equipped with Myrtha R-Evolution, a pioneering membrane made from 60% recycled materials and fully recyclable at the end of its life. Certified by RecyClass, the membrane represents a tangible step forward in circular construction methods and sustainable pool design.

Compared to traditional construction methods using concrete and tile, Myrtha’s installation in Singapore also achieves an impressive 45% reduction in carbon emissions.

In addition, Myrtha’s technologies can contribute to green building certifications, such as LEED, BREEAM, and Green Star, in recognition of its environmental leadership. Most recently, the company received 3 product certifications from the Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP).

SGBP’s stringent evaluation criteria assess product sustainability across the entire lifecycle – from raw material sourcing to end-of-life recyclability – underscoring Myrtha’s role as an industry leader in responsible innovation.

The performance of the pool is crucial, especially during international competitions. Water clarity and perfect circulation are essential for both swimmers and TV audiences.

At the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, water circulation was managed through Strahlenturbulenz, Myrtha’s advanced recirculation system, which is based on the Venturi effect. The system utilises sidewall inlets to ensure an even, turbulence-free flow, eliminating the need for underfloor piping and creating ideal racing conditions for elite athletes.

Myrtha Pools’ presence in Southeast Asia extends well beyond sporting arenas. With an expanding portfolio across the region’s luxury hospitality sector, the company collaborates with leading architects and premium hotel chains to deliver cutting-edge swimming pools and wellness facilities.
